Project name (acronym): FORest Surveillance with Artificial Intelligence and Digital technologies (FORSAID)
Digital technologies to safeguard forest health
Forests play a crucial role in achieving the goals of the European Green Deal. However, trees are increasingly threatened by climate change and invasive pests. The EU-funded FORSAID project will develop digital technologies to detect forest pests at an early stage, monitor their presence and provide data to effectively control their spread. The project team will develop AI-based scanners to identify trapped pests. In addition, drones equipped with sensors will be used to analyze the condition of the forests.
BER is developing the scanners and AI-based methods to identify pests collected in scent traps.
FORSAID receives funding from the European Union's Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 101134200.
