Job description

You will perform research on inkjet-printed functional materials for optoelectronic components and sensors. The focus lies on physical and chemical sensors as well as sustainable electronics, including the development of ink formulations, printing processes, design, and characterization of novel components. Additionally, you will apply machine learning in printing processes and sensor applications. You will also support the coordination of laboratory infrastructure at the IAI and collaborate on other research projects. Publishing results and contributing to teaching are also part of your responsibilities.

There is also the possibility of pursuing a PhD degree in addition to your scientific work.

Personal qualification

  • Completed university degree (Master's) in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Materials Science
  • Expertise in the production of (opto-)electronic components or sensors, as well as solvent-processed flexible and stretchable electronics
  • Good knowledge of physical and chemical sensors, optoelectronics, and semiconductor physics
  • Initial experience in 3D printing and in publishing in scientific journals is desirable
  • Project management skills and ability to work in a team
  • Excellent English skills, both written and spoken
  • German skills are an advantage

Salary

Salary category 13, depending on the fulfillment of professional and personal requirements.

Job description

You will be responsible for the collection, storage, structuring and documentation of scientific measurement data in terms of qualitative and sustainable data management. In close consultation with users, you will familiarise yourself with the necessary metadata standards or database systems and support users in the preparation and storage of data. As a data steward, you will be responsible for data management and organisation, implement standards and processes to ensure accessibility and usability, ensure that the applicable legal and regulatory requirements are met and document the procedures and guidelines developed for best practices when creating operational data from the Energy Lab. You will also act as a bridge between different institutes, departments and disciplines to ensure that data is utilised consistently and effectively. You will also be involved in project work at the Energy Lab.

Personal qualification

  • Completed university degree (Diploma (Uni) / Master) in the field of computer science or mechatronics.
  • Very good knowledge of programming models and runtime environments for experimental automation of energy technology test systems using modern IoT technologies and field device interfaces
  • Experience in dealing with infrastructures such as MQTT, time series databases, Grafana and Linux
  • Extensive experience in the field of software development (Beckhoff TwinCAT or Siemens PCS7)
  • Good knowledge of software development (Python, Go, Javascript)
  • Knowledge of databases (SQL, InfluxDB), containerisation (Docker) and software version management (Git)
  • Project management skills
  • Willingness to work in a team and undergo further training
  • Ability to work independently and a sense of responsibility
