On April 22, 2024, the inaugural lectures of TT-Prof. Dr. Benjamin Schäfer and TT-Prof. Dr. Peer Nowack took place. Mr. Schäfer spoke about “Artificial Intelligence for Energy Systems” and Mr. Nowack about “Artificial Intelligence for Climate Science”. TT-Prof. Dr. Peer Nowack holds the Chair for Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Climate and Environmental Sciences since March 2023.

TT-Prof. Dr. Benjamin Schäfer started at the IAI in January 2022, initially as head of the Helmholtz Young Investigator Group “Data-Driven Analysis of Complex Systems (DRACOS)”. On May 1, 2023, Mr. Schäfer was appointed to the W1 professorship “AI for the Energy System” at the KIT Department of Informatics as a tenure-track professor. Since January 2024, Prof. Schäfer has headed the research area of the same name “Data-Driven Analysis of Complex Systems (DRACOS)” since January 2024.
