We congratulate our former institute colleague Dr. Jörg Nagel on being awarded the Ring of Honor of the VDI (Verein Deutscher Ingenieure e.V. – Association of German Engineers). The award took place on the occasion of the board meeting on November 25th, 2020.

Dr. Jörg Nagel studied mechatronics at the University of Karlsruhe. In 2006, he wrote his student research project at the IAI. He conducted his diploma thesis at the Laboratoire de Nanorobotique at the École Polytechnique de Montréal, Canada. In 2007, Mr. Nagel took up a position at the IAI as a doctoral candidate. He completed his dissertation on the topic “Neues Konzept für die bedarfsgerechte Energieversorgung des Künstlichen Akkommodationssystems” with honors in 2011. During his dissertation and his subsequent work as a research assistant at the IAI, Dr. Nagel contributed to a large number of publications and patent applications before finally leaving the institute in 2015 to take up a position in industry.
